Day 23 - Your favorite season and why


2010 – though 2012 was exciting as hell, 2010 was my favourite season because it was the last season when we saw real racing. The tires co-operated well, being Bridgestone, and allowed what fans wanted to see. It was also the last time when 3 drivers went into the finale, all having an equal chance at clinching the championship. It was the season when RedBull, the team which most of the paddock associated with a “carefree-party-team”, beat the mighty Ferrari and McLaren to be the best team on the grid. And since then, F1 has had a new member in the ‘top teams’ category. 
1976 and 1989 would also be one of my favorite seasons!

Hamilton to Mercedes and Perez to McLaren.. A brave move?

All through his career, McLaren has been 'the one'. In December 1995, at the age of 10, Lewis Hamilton approached McLaren Team principal Ron Dennis at the Autosport Awards ceremony and told him, "I want to race for McLaren one day." Nearly, after 14 years of the McLaren team nurturing and establishing Hamilton as 'one the best drivers on the grid', Lewis decides to move to another team in 2013, in sight of a 'new challenge'. That news hit fans like a lightning bolt. Would Lewis' fans shift heir base along with his  move to Mercedes? That same day, news erupted that McLaren have opted to replace Hamilton with Sergio Perez!  It was another dose of lightning strike. Sergio Perez, by then, had already finished thrice on podium and also showed he had winner worth talent in him and had a long way to go in F1. But surely, we didn't expect McLaren to make a hasty move and gamble their 2013 season with an inexperienced driver in a very experienced team

Breaking the media marshmallow code

It’s always great to have 2 races in 2 weeks. It keeps us on our feet! Literally. And if both the races are exciting, it’s a bigger bonus, because that’s what formula one needs and that’s what makes me write more. But before doing a review of both the races, which by the way was pre-planned, it wasn’t like I forgot about either one, I want to just voice my opinion on Sebastian Vettel’s exact words when he was asked about the new engine formula and it’s sounds-  “It’s shit”  Personally, even I’m one of those 83% who despises these changes and hoping for some sort of bright light of wisdom to hit the FIA delegates’ minds and they change all the rules. Although the same can’t be said about the drivers, who earlier criticised the engines (Bar the world champ) have turned tables, having gotten used to the new sounds.
